Moving is stressful, anyone who has ever moved before will tell you that. It’s exhausting and requires nearly all of your time to do it properly. However, if you can plan ahead and stay organized you can enjoy a much easier move across the board. When moving day comes you’ll need more than a few markers and boxes to keep you calm. You’ll need to be in the right frame of mind to prepare for the big day. Here are 3 of our best tips for a stress-free moving day.
1. Get a good night’s rest.
The night before the move, do your best to get into bed early. Make sure you get a full 8 hours of sleep so you can wake up well rested and ready to handle all of the day’s activities. If you have children, do the same for them. This will prevent everyone from getting too cranky.
2. Plan out your day’s meals.
When the time comes to pack up the car and the moving truck, the last thing you’ll feel like doing is cooking. Not to mention the fact that all of your cooking gear is likely to be packed up in a box somewhere. So either make some meals in advance or plan on ordering in for moving day.
3. Make a Checklist
The best and easiest way to make sure that all of your items were moved and correctly packed, is to make a comprehensive moving list. As each item or box is placed in the moving truck make sure it is clearly labelled and check it off your checklist. This way you know what was moved and what has yet to be moved as you go along. It also prevents you from stressing over the “what-ifs” after the truck is loaded and ready to go.
